Pastoral Committees

Worship Committee
Convener: Donna Shenoha, 704-608-1543
The Worship Committee oversees ministries that serve the St. Matthew faith community in the areas of private and public worship. Private worship is a commitment to personal and communal prayer time to build up the Body of Christ. Public worship is centered on the Sunday Eucharistic celebration and other special liturgical events. Many opportunities are available for those who feel called to take an active and often visible role by serving in the Sunday Eucharistic celebration. Other opportunities are available for those who feel called to serve in a supportive, behind the scenes role in the areas of both public and private worship.

Stewardship Committee
Convener: Joan Slep, 704-542-0045
Stewardship involves taking the spirit of the Sunday Liturgy into our daily lives by sharing our time, talents and resources to the fulfillment of our parish mission. Stewardship Committee members (both adults and teens) are appointed by the pastor. They sponsor yearly stewardship campaigns, ministry fairs, youth stewardship envelopes and continuing stewardship education.

Engagement Committee
Conveners: John Welshofer, 704-846-5676 and Frank Colunga, 704-707-9811

Engagement is the emotional connection individuals have to their parish community. It’s how they feel about their church, their sense of belonging and active participation in parish life. In the spirit of support and encouragement, the Engagement Committee strives to identify and create opportunities to develop and enhance the relationship between parishioners and the Church and its ministries.

Evangelization Committee

Evangelizing all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church ... Evangelization is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity; and how She exists in order to evangelize.(USCCB) Each of us is called to bring people closer to Christ. We are called to be Christ to one another, to love one another as He has loved us, and to preach and live His Gospel as an example to the community.
