Christ Renews His Parish
Christ Renews His Parish is a unique, parish-based retreat experience for men and women. A national program that started in the 1970s, CRHP is offered in more than 1,000 parishes across the country today. This powerful experience brings parishioners together to refuel their spirits, strengthen their faith and build a sense of community within the parish. It is held over a 26-hour period and includes several themed talks, small-group sharing, quiet reflection time, prayer and the sacraments of Eucharist and reconciliation.
Who will be there?
A core team of lay men and women prepare, host and lead the retreats. Some give talks on selected themes or lead group discussions. Others plan liturgy and music, arrange meals and accommodations. All team members are dedicated to ensuring an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. Participants include men and women of all ages (21+) who belong to St. Matthew Catholic Church. Moms, dads, singles, seniors, young adults ... all are welcome to rest, renew and rejoice during this overnight experience.
What can I expect at CRHP?
Activities begin on Friday at 7 p.m. and conclude on Saturday with a closing Mass at 7:15 p.m. Participants sleep and eat at St. Matthew Catholic School and the majority of the programming is held in the New Life Center Banquet Room. Healthy meals and plenty of refreshments are provided.
You will be moved by several touching and inspiring presentations given by select team members. Discussion of each topic will follow as you get to meet and greet church members in small groups. There will be private time for quiet reflection, as well as the gifts of reconciliation and Eucharist.
St. Matthew hosted its first CRHP retreats for both men and women in the Fall of 2011. If you are interested in attending a future CRHP or in learning more, please contact Michael Burck at 704-541-8362 x 4.
