If you are looking for ways to offer your service as a family, here are some do at home projects that can offer a lot of love and have a tremendous impact on our community!

Blessing Bags (Serve Charlotte's Homeless)

“Often the smallest things bring the greatest joys”

A Blessing Bag is a ziploc bag filled with food, water and in some cases toiletries.  This project is dedicated to support Serve Charlotte’s Homeless (SCH)

A nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Charlotte’s homeless population. Every month, SCH reaches hundreds of homeless men, women and children by providing meals and passing out goody bags filled with nutritious snacks.

HOW-TO:
Using Ziploc quart size bags, fill the bags with:

  • Individually packaged snack items such as: Granola bars, protein bars, packaged crackers, fruit cups, cookies, raisins, fruit snacks, etc.  Note:  Only non-perishable food items please!
  • If you would like to decorate the Ziploc bag with inspirational stickers and/or include a note or Bible verse, you are welcome to do so. These small gestures let the homeless know we are praying for them. No names on cards or decorations.

Blessing bags are distributed weekly on Thursday evenings as part of the Serve Charlotte’s Homeless.

If you plan to donate goody bags please clearly mark them for SCH and e-mail Jeff Wilson or Kate Dennstaedt before bringing them to the church!
