St. Matthew > Ministries List > Spiritual Life & Prayer > Centering Prayer

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. The focus of Centering Prayer is the deepening of our relationship with the living Christ.

Be still and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Jesus invites us to rest in Him so that we can consent to His action in our hearts and lives. This action may be healing, it may be wisdom, it may be increased faith and love, whatever God wants to do in us.

Join us! We have an in-person Centering Prayer session on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 7:00-8:00 pm in Room 202 in the New Life Center. We also have Zoom Centering Prayer sessions on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 7:00-8:00 pm. An email with the Zoom link is sent to those on our email list before the meeting.
