St. Matthew > Ministries List > Stewardship & Service > St. Matthew Jail Ministry

We are excited to announce the St. Matthew Jail Ministry is active again! All people are made in the image and likeness of God. No matter what someone has done, they deserve the opportunity to hear the Word of God and how Christ offers hope, healing, and a new purpose for each life. As Catholics, through The Corporal Works of Mercy, we are called to visit the imprisoned.

Jail Ministry Mission

Provides parishioners with opportunities to engage in prayer, fellowship, service, and outreach with the aim of easing the transition of prisoners back into society.

Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about spreading God’s message of love, hope, and mercy! On Thursday evenings, volunteers will attend as a group to visit people who wish to receive the Word of Christ while serving time at the Mecklenburg County Jail. For more information contact:

Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
