Father Patrick Cahill was born on 8 November 1979 in Richmond, Indiana and has five younger siblings. His family moved to North Carolina in 1990 and he attended Charlotte Catholic High School (class of ‘98) and Belmont Abbey College. His parents relocated to Atlanta while he was in college and now stay busy with their fourteen grandchildren. After receiving a Bachelor’s and Licentiate in Philosophy as a Basselin scholar at Catholic University in Washington, DC, he attended St. Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia where he earned an M.Div and M.A. in scriptural theology. He was ordained a priest on 2 June 2007 for the diocese of Charlotte. He has served in the following assignments as a priest of the Diocese of Charlotte: Parochial Vicar at St. Matthew (2007-2009) and St. Gabriel (2009-2011) in Charlotte, Pastor of St. Eugene Catholic Church and Administrator of Asheville Catholic School (2011-2025) in Asheville, Diocesan Director of the mission office (2014-Present), multiple terms on Presbyteral Council, and College of consultors (2024-Present). Father Cahill was appointed Pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church on July 8, 2025 and Moderator Priest in Solidum on July 1, 2026 as part of establishing a new parish in Waxhaw. In August, 2026 he earned his PhD in leadership and organizational theory from Anderson University in South Carolina and published, “The Effects of Bilingual Services in Adaptively Leading Shared Parishes” on ProQuest. He enjoys the Panthers, Hornets, NY Mets, playing golf, piano, reading, and loves spending time with family and friends.
