Mission
Homeless Relief Ministry (HRM) is the umbrella which SHC- Supportive Housing Communities Family Project and the Refugee Resettlement ministry fall under. HRM is a collaboration between St. Matthew, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Peter that furnishes permanent apartments/homes for Supportive Housing Communities Family Project, the Diocese of Charlotte Refugee Resettlement Office and other organizations/agencies
Homemakers of Mercy is a collaborative ministry between St. Gabriel and St. Matthew Catholic Churches that helps the underserved in our community move beyond or avoid homelessness. HOM works with SHIP, a partnership between the two parishes, the Salvation Army and the Department of Social Services, to provide permanent housing to homeless single mothers and their children. HOM volunteers also assist a number of other agencies that provide permanent housing to homeless families with children in Charlotte and the surrounding communities. Our involvement includes furnishing and setting up the apartments so the families can move in and move on with their lives. SHC also helps the children with school backpacks, the parents with mentoring, and will provide assistance during the holidays.
