Diocese of Charlotte Safe Environment Policy
St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Diocese of Charlotte are committed to protecting the safety and dignity of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Together, we work to create a safe environment for everyone through prevention, protection and accountability.
The Diocese of Charlotte partners with Catholic Mutual Group to provide Safe Environment education and resources. As part of this commitment, the Diocese maintains a comprehensive Safe Environment Program that includes training, screening, background checks and other procedures designed to help prevent and reduce the risk of abuse.
Safe Environment Training
Safe Environment training and annual renewal training are required for employment and volunteer ministry within the Diocese of Charlotte. All clergy, religious, employees and volunteers age 18 and older who work, volunteer or participate in ministry in any capacity are required to complete Safe Environment training before beginning employment or volunteer activities.
New Volunteers
If you are a new volunteer, you must complete Safe Environment training before beginning your volunteer service.
Register for training through Diocese of Charlotte CMG Connect, charlotte.cmgconnect.org
Renewal Training
Safe Environment certification must be renewed annually. You will receive an electronic notification 60 days before your certification expires with instructions for completing your renewal training.
Once you receive your notification, log in to your Diocese of Charlotte CMG Connect account and complete your assigned renewal training.
Complete assigned training through CMG Connect, charlotte.cmgconnect.org
