Our Daily Bread Ministry

Mission: To heed the Lord’s command to “feed my hungry,” Our Daily Bread Ministry delivers bakery products, canned foods and produce that are donated by supermarket chains and other resources to charities in the Charlotte area whose goal is to feed the hungry.

Agencies served: Volunteers deliver food to church-based or senior citizen facilities that have food pantries or soup kitchens that feed those in need. According to current census data, nearly 8000 persons a week benefit from the food delivered. Approximately 30 charities are included in the current distribution each week and an additional four charities receive items occasionally throughout the year.

Time commitment of volunteers: Each volunteer is assigned the same day each week to pick up donated food. The time commitment is approximately one and a half to two hours weekly. Volunteers serve on one of six teams and pick up products from the same store and deliver to the same charity each week.
