Elizabeth Ministry
Mission: Elizabeth Ministry’s mission is to support, educate, remember, and share with families who have lost babies through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.
The St. Matthew Elizabeth Ministry is a pregnancy loss support ministry that is part of the Bereavement Ministry. We provide one-on-one peer support and encouragement to parents, grandparents, and siblings suffering the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant loss.
Volunteer opportunities: When a loss occurs volunteers make the initial contact with the parents and an informational packet is sent out the next day. Follow up contacts are determined by how much the family needs. Some want very little contact, often avoiding calls and not returning voicemails; others need multiple phone calls and possibly a face-to-face meeting, if you feel comfortable. We send another notecard in a week and then on the anniversary of the loss. We offer support for a minimum of six months. There is not a set time limit. Some family members might require less or more support than others.
Time commitment of volunteers: As needed.
