Father Patrick Cahill was born on 8 November 1979 in Richmond, Indiana and is the eldest of six children. His family moved to North Carolina in 1990 and he attended Charlotte Catholic High School (class of ‘98) and Belmont Abbey College. His parents relocated to Atlanta while he was in college and now stay busy with their fourteen grandchildren. After receiving a Bachelor’s and Licentiate in Philosophy as a Basselin scholar at Catholic University in Washington, DC, he attended St. Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia where he earned an M.Div and M.A. in scriptural theology. He was ordained a priest on 2 June 2007 for the diocese of Charlotte. He has served in the following offices: Parochial Vicar at St. Matthew (2007-2009) and St. Gabriel (2009-2011), Pastor of St. Eugene Catholic Church and Administrator of Asheville Catholic School (2011-2025), Diocesan Director of the mission office (2014-Present), and College of consultors (2024-Present). He was appointed the fifth Pastor of St. Matthew Catholic Church on July 8, 2025. He enjoys the Panthers, Hornets, NY Mets, playing golf, reading, and loves spending time with family and friends.
