Men’s Shelter - Tryon Campus

Charlotte Men's Shelter Ministry - Tryon Campus

Mission: The Saint Matthew Ministry to the Charlotte Men’s Homeless Shelter provides spiritual support, clothing, nourishment, and employment and housing support to the Charlotte region's homeless men seeking to improve their life circumstance.

Description of agency served: The Men’s Shelter of Charlotte is dedicated to providing safe emergency shelter while working to end homelessness for each man. Our vision is to serve as the catalyst for systemic change to end homelessness in our community. Last fiscal year (FY 2013), MSC sheltered an average of 473 homeless men each night and served 758 meals each day. With the Great Recession behind us, MSC implemented our new Moving Forward, Moving Home initiative. This initiative better aligns agency staff and resources to help men identify and overcome the obstacles that have led to being homeless. The programs Moving Forward and Moving Home are components of MSC’s Enhanced Shelter Services which also includes Medical Respite, Severe Weather Overflow, and Supportive Services.  Each component works by placing the client at the center of care, and surrounds him with services tailored to his individual needs.
