Holy Day of Obligation – Monday, Dec. 8

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates God’s special grace given to Mary, preserving her from the stain of original sin from the first moment of her conception. This mystery of our faith reminds us that God’s saving plan began long before the birth of Jesus and that Mary was prepared in a unique way to be the Mother of God.

As a holy day of obligation, Catholics are joyfully called to participate in Mass and honor Mary, our patroness and model of perfect trust in God.
