St. Matthew > Ministries List > Retreats > Cursillo > What is a Cursillo weekend and who should make one?

The Cursillo Movement is introduced via a three-day weekend retreat called a “Cursillo de Christianidad” which means “short course in Christianity” in Spanish.  This retreat includes daily prayer, daily Mass, and opportunities for Spiritual Direction and Reconciliation.  During the Retreat, a team of religious and lay people present a series of talks which are then discussed in small groups allowing for the sharing of personal insights.  At the end of the weekend, candidates feel closer to Christ and have a better understanding of the power of the Holy Spirit, they know  of Christ’s unconditional love for them and that they have been called through their baptism to spread the Word of God.

Any Catholic 18 or older may make a Cursillo.
