CHOSEN: A Journey to the Sacraments
Chosen Program Coordinator: Brianna Bernosky, 704-543-7677 x1092
The Chosen program is designed to guide teens towards the Sacraments of Initiation. Whether a teen is preparing to be Baptized, to receive Holy Eucharist for the first time or beginning the process for Confirmation, Chosen will provide them with the necessary formation for reception. In addition to their formation experience, we encourage every youth to take part in our parish youth group for middle school. Edge.
Baptism and Holy Eucharist: In addition to the Chosen sessions, those teens who will be receiving these Sacraments are expected to participate in three parent-teen experiences, and begin participating in the life of the parish through our Be The Church opportunities (see below).
Confirmation, Part One: The process for preparing for this Sacrament takes place in two distinct phases: remote preparation and proximate preparation. The first (remote) is designed to strengthen the youth’s Catholic foundation and knowledge before they enter into the second part (proximate), which specifically prepares them for the sacrament. Chosen fulfills the remote preparation for those youth who are not in a Catholic middle school or have not been in Catholic middle school formation. Teens will need to enroll in our parish Ignite program the year following Chosen to complete the preparation process and to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
2025-2026 Program Year
We are currently accepting registrations for youth volunteers and adult volunteers and their children. General registration will open on July 13 at 3 pm through an online form. Link will be posted below.
CHOSEN SESSIONS: Candidates must be enrolled for the full program year. Attendance is expected at all sessions, but we recognize that illness or unforeseen family circumstances may prevent attendance. For that reason, we build in a grace for four absences as well as the ability to ‘swap sessions’ as defined at the link below. Please note that if a candidate misses more than four sessions, they will be required to re-enroll and begin the OCIT process again the following year.

BE THE CHURCH: During the program year, candidates are expected to begin to more closely discern how the Holy Spirit is guiding them to a role in the life of the parish. Each candidate is expected to participate in nine Be The Church experiences. The candidate must submit a reflection of their experiences via the link below. No more than two experiences may be the same and one experience outside of the parish is allowed. The experiences must be completed by May 1, 2026.
